Our History

On January 2, 1972, a small group of Christians came together in a meeting room at Ramada Inn in Jonesboro, Arkansas. JB and Majorie Huber were instrumental in getting this group together. There were 19 people present for the service that Sunday. Nine people placed membership to become charter members. They were: JB and Majorie Huber, their children Bryan and Maribeth Huber, Paul and Loretta McKnight, Bertha Phillips, Mary Conway, and Verena Tunell. In February of 1973, the congregation voted to buy the church property. In May of 1973, the church began meeting in trailers that were provided by the Mo-Ark Men’s Fellowship group. On October 31, 1976, the church held groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the new building. On April 3, 1977, just over 5 years after the first meeting, the first services were held in the new church building. The building was formally dedicated on May 15, 1987. August 30, 1987, was the date for ground-breaking services for the new Fellowship Hall. The fellowship hall was formally dedicated on January 17, 1988. On June 16, 1991, the church officially burned the note to the fellowship hall.

During the last 50 years, there have been many wonderful preachers who have ministered to our congregations. With their leadership, our church has had many highlights: memories of baptisms, weddings, Vacation Bible Schools, youth trips, and many special events.
Our church has always focused on missions and teaching God’s word through the outreach of mission services. We continue to support Mid-South Christian College, foreign missions, and local mission groups,

Some of the highlights we have added to our church services are the purchase of Handbells, for our music program and choir Christmas and Easter programs. Also, our VBS programs have continued to grow and serve as an outreach program to our local community. Technology has also improved our church services. We now offer a PowerPoint service for every song service; we have an established church website and social media accounts. We offer an online worship service every Sunday morning for those who are unable to attend.
